America the Beautiful Fund was featured in an article in the New Orleans Magazine WHERE Y’AT for “Sowing the Future of New Orleans Through Community Gardening.” Pre-Katrina, there were 54 active community gardens in the city. Now, with the free seeds from America the Beautiful Fund 22 gardens have been re-established with the help of America the Beautiful’s local project Parkway Partners’ and many more are being restored and replanted.
