Recent Events
2005 events included our 40th Anniversary Conference on Natural Beauty in America at Mount Vernon on May 23, 2005. 100 representatives of national conservation groups met to review the progress made since the White House Conference on Natural Beauty for America in 1965 and to sign the Pledge to Beauty for America which we then sent to Lady Bird Johnson. Also, America the Beautiful Fund® was honored by the Department of the Interior as the Outstanding Take Pride in America Partner at a ceremony in September.
After Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, we launched our massive effort to send 10,000 pounds of vegetable seeds, 100,000 flower seed packets and 6,000 flower bulbs to replant the flooded areas of the Gulf Coast.
